Arbor Day Celebration

Every two years the Eastern SWCD, in partnership with A&N Electric Cooperative, the Eastern Shore Nurserymen’s Association and the Virginia Department of Forestry, celebrates Arbor Day. The Arbor Day event is to inform the general public that trees and plants are not only valuable to us because of their beauty but they also play an important role in protecting our environment and providing important habitat for wildlife.     The event is held simultaneously in two locations, one location in Accomack County and one location in Northampton County. Festivities include distributing thousands of free tree seedlings from the Virginia Department of Forestry and awarding nursery stock donated by local Eastern Shore Nurseries as door prizes. The continuing support of the VA Department of Forestry and the Eastern Shore Nurserymen’s Association help to make this a popular local event.
