Nature Detectives Camp: Postponed due to COVID
Each summer working in conjunction with Ker Place, in Onancock, VA, the Eastern Shore SWCD holds a week long Nature Detectives Camp for kids ages 8-13. The campers arrive at Ker Place in the mornings for Advanced American Spies Camp and attend the District’s Nature Detectives Camp in the afternoon. Nature Detectives Camp is packed with hands-on, fun-filled outdoor activities which allows kids to investigate and learn about their environment around them. Click here for a sample Nature Detectives Camp schedule.
The registration deadline for Advanced American Spies & Nature Detectives camp has passed for the July 29-August 2, 2019 camp. Check back next year for information on next year's camp or contact our Education Director, Julie Head at (757) 302-4433 or julie.head@esswcd.org for more information.

2019 marked the fifth year Eastern Shore SWCD has partnered with Ker Place to provide this week long camp. The camp was held Monday, July 29 through Friday, August 2. The District started the week with 8 campers ranging in ages from 8-13. This year, campers looked at water quality indicators, went kayaking, seine netting, learned about worms, bird migration and bats. Campers made bat houses and learned about how bats are an important part of our community. They also made mini worm composters. By participating in these activities, campers had a chance to get up close and personal with the world around them.
